I am very pleased along with my Co-Chairs Prof Steven Wexner & Prof Manish Chand to
invite your participation in the Sixth Apollo International Colorectal Diseases
Symposium to be held from the 13th to 15th March 2026 at Hyatt Regency. Chennai,
India. The theme for this edition is The Future of Colorectal Surgery. As always, we have
a star-studded faculty from around the world and India who are leaders in our field of
Colorectal Surgery.
The Apollo Hospitals Chennai is a pioneer in the field of Colorectal Surgery. We perform
more than 500 MIS colorectal procedures a year. The Colorectal Surgery programme at
our centre is one of the busiest in the country. The Institute of Colorectal Surgery at
Apollo Hospitals Chennai provides an end-to-end service for all colorectal diseases
from Anorectal diseases, Colitis to complex colorectal cancers through a
multidisciplinary approach. In line with our chairman’s vision to further subspecialize in
the field of colorectal surgery we launched India’s premier quaternary “The Apollo
Rectal Cancer (ARC) Programme for the management of Rectal Cancer at the Apollo
Proton Cancer Centre (APCC), Chennai, India in January 2024. This programme has
become a marquee clinical service for patients with rectal cancer. In 2025, we launched
the Apollo Robotic Telesurgery Programme and performed some of the world's first
robotic colorectal telesurgery procedures using the portable robotic platforms.
The Institute of Colorectal Surgery at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai collaborates with
Medstar Georgetown University Hospital Washington, USA & University College
London, UK to create a platform for creating awareness, teaching, training &
accreditation in the management of Colorectal Diseases. The aim of this collaborative is
to standardize care pathways, train and accredit surgeons involved in the care of
patients with colorectal diseases. This collaborative will be ongoing delivering an annual
colorectal event now in its 6th edition focussing on recent advances in rectal cancer
management and on emerging new technologies for colorectal surgery.
